1. Facial Exercises
By exercising your facial muscles regularly they stay toned and the skin is firmer. So by all means don't stop laughing. It is great for your facial muscles. But do other exercises as well, for example making a surprised expression and hold it for 10 to 20 seconds. Then switch to another extreme facial expression, for example with your mouth wide open.
2. Get Rid of Chemicals
Many of the chemicals you find in today's face creams can actually cause more signs of aging. Products containing alcohol, mineral oil, and chemical preservatives should not be used if you want to keep your skin smooth.
3. Nutrients for Rejuvenation
Much of the rejuvenation of your skin is actually an inside job. Without the right nutrients your body can't create healthy skin cells and keep your facial skin firm and smooth. But most of the food today contains less nutrients that it did before so it is wise to take a natural multi vitamin supplement as well as molecularly distilled omega-3 fish oil, which is vital for healthy youthful skin.
4. Stay Hydrated
You may know that most of your body is actually water, but it is also true that a lot of us walk around dehydrated most of the time. Dehydration causes your skin to age prematurely so be sure to always keep those water levels up. You can do it with other liquids to, for example fresh fruit juice or fruit smoothie.
5. Say NO to Toxins
For effective rejuvenation of your skin avoid toxins as much as you can. This naturally means avoiding things like smoking cigarettes, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, eating junk foods on a regular basis, and even stressing. Yes, even being in a state of stress and worry impacts your skin.
6. Try a Face Mask
It is good to give your skin an extra intensive treatment every now and then. You can even make your own face mask at home with nourishing ingredients like oatmeal, raw egg, and cold pressed plant oil.
7. Moisturize with Natural Cream
Daily care of your laugh lines should include moisturizing with a natural cream. It should be made of ingredients that are proven safe and effective. For best effects on laugh lines and wrinkles, the cream needs to stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin, so that your skin becomes smoother and firmer.

Cancer Juicing - What Are the Best Juices For Fighting Cancer?

More and more, those who have been diagnosed with cancer are choosing to heal their bodies naturally and are opting to use alternative treatments for healing cancer. Juicing has proven to be a very effective way to help the body rid itself of cancer cells. People have been juicing to treat cancer naturally for decades, although it is just now increasing in popularity.
Cancer juicing, or juice therapy, has proven to be very effective due to cancer killing nutrients contained in certain fruits and vegetables. So what are some juices that help the body to rid itself of cancer?
Below are lists of foods that are known to fight and prevent cancer. These items must be consumed raw in order to get the full benefits, which is why juicing is such a powerful healing treatment.
Cruciferous Vegetables contain very powerful anti-cancer properties. Some cruciferous vegetables are:
- Collard Greens
- Kale
- Cabbage
- Cauliflower
- Broccoli
- Turnip
Beta Carotene is another powerful cancer fighting ingredient found in foods. These foods include:
- Carrots
- Peppers (chili, green, red, yellow)
- Leafy Greens (mustard, romaine, collards, kale, turnip greens, spinach, dandelion)
Proanthocyanidins (or PAC's) are powerful cancer fighters as well. Foods that contain PAC's include:
- Beets (including beet tops)
- Blueberry
- Plums
- Purple Grapes (with seeds and skin)
Other fruits that contain powerful cancer fighting ingredients include:
- Pineapple
- Tomato
- Dark Berries (strawberry, blueberry, red raspberry, black raspberry)
There are also bottled juices that are power packed with cancer fighting nutrients. Please research the brands and only go with the best. Recommended bottled juices include:
- Noni Juice
- Mangosteen Juice
- Goji Berry Juice.
Although the bottled juices listed above are great due to the powerful nutrients that they contain, fresh juice made from organic produce is definitely the best. During the juicing process, the fiber is removed with the pulp. Because of this, the nutrients needed to heal the body and restore the immune system go directly into the blood stream in the form of juice.
Many are amazed at the benefits of juicing because they quickly notice that they alleviate many other ailments as well including migraine headaches, allergies, dandruff, stiff joints, dull skin, dandruff, fatigue and high blood pressure. Many shed excess pounds as a result of juicing as well.
It is important to note that in order for juice treatments to truly be effective, the person must have a diet that does not include artificial chemicals, meat products or dairy products. Diet plays a major role in the healing process. Eating a natural diet and eliminating processed foods is essential to the healing process as well. Rebuilding damaged cancer cells through nutritional juice therapy is extremely effective and a much better alternative than chemotherapy, radiation and toxic drugs.

Can Ovarian Cysts Cause Cancer?

Can ovarian cysts cause cancer? This is a common question many women ask, especially those who have been diagnosed with having ovarian cysts, or even those who merely suspects they have ovarian cysts. If this question concerns you, let's clarify something now: ovarian cysts are very common and affect most women of child bearing age. However, they are mostly harmless and experts estimate only about 15 cases out of a whopping 100,000 (that's only about 0.015%) cases of ovarian cysts turn into cancers.
Although the percentage is rather small, it must also be noted that cancerous ovaries tend to hide any symptoms until they are larger. This makes it very important for women to check with their doctors early if they suspect that something is amiss. It is also a very good practice to have annual pelvic examinations as this will allow your doctor or gynecologist to detect any ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries and even possible cancers early.
One of the tests that doctors use to determine whether an ovarian cyst is cancerous is a blood test called the CA-125 test. However, it is important to note that sometimes, some cancer growths in the ovaries do not produce enough CA-125 to be detected by this test so it is not foolproof. And even if CA-125 is detected, it may be also caused by other non-cancerous health conditions.
In some cases, not only can ovarian cysts cause cancer, they can also cause other possibly life threatening complications, especially if they develop further into PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). These complications may take the following forms:
1. Cardiovascular disease - linked to insulin resistance, decreased fibrinolysis, increased C-reactive protein levels and increased carotid intimal thickness.
2. Diabetes - linked to insulin resistance and exhaustion of the pancreas.
3. Pregnancy related problems - linked to hypertension and pre-eclampsia.
4. Elevated LDL - bad cholesterol.
5. High blood pressure.
So, to recap: Can ovarian cysts cause cancer? Yes it can, but it is relatively rare. Cancer, as well as ovarian cysts and PCOS have been linked to an imbalanced lifestyle where people are over-stressed at work, eating the wrong kinds of food and practically living a life where their bodies are continuously challenged to maintain its balance. Practitioners of holistic healing and natural living believe that it is when this balance is lost that disease and health complications arise. To complement your current healthcare, you may want to explore natural remedies to reduce or prevent the occurrence of ovarian cysts, PCOS and cancerous cysts.

Home Remedy for Kidney Stones - 10 Remedies to Treat Kidney Stones Naturally

You wince at the pain. You cry at the ache. You tremble at the torture. No, you are not pregnant (thank goodness guys!) but you are suffering from kidney stones. Did you know that women report kidney stone pain to be more torturous than childbirth? Can you say, "OUCH?" But you are suffering for NO reason!
And almost one in every 20 people will develop a kidney stone sometime in their life. And if the pain is not the worst part, you can actually be part of the millions who spend thousands of dollars on hospital visits, various treatments, harsh side-effect medication and surgery. And the best or worst news (depending if you have spent the thousands of dollars on kidney stone treatment or not), you can treat kidney stones naturally with a simple home remedy for kidney stones. In fact, the body can naturally pass your stones with no medication, no surgery and not using 2 months of your salary.
If you are a kidney stone sufferer, here are 10 remedies that could be the difference between misery and bliss. I hope your treatment starts in the next 2 minutes.
10 Remedies to Treat Kidney Stones Naturally
1. Water! Typically, kidney stones are caused by dehydration (not getting enough water). If you live in an area with hot, humid weather or where clean water is rare, your odds of getting kidney stones are tripled. Therefore, you must begin your natural treatment with drinking at least 10 tall glasses of water a day. A good tip is to compete against a friend or spouse. Who can drink the most water?
2. Distilled! If you live in a country with the option of distilled water, buy it! Distilled water is pure from any and everything including minerals that could aid in the formation of kidney stones. Distilled water is almost perfect for flushing your system and passing stones.
3. Citric Acid! Did you know that lemons are potent with citric acid? And citric acids and lemons have been known to dissolve hard materials, even stones. Add a lemon to your drinking water to spruce things up.
4. Play again! Get outside or in the gym and do a little exercise. There are thousands of reasons to exercise but besides feeling better about yourself, you can actually give your body a boast of overall health. And overall health includes flushing the kidneys.
5. Cranberry juice from concentrate! By drinking cranberry juice, you can maintain your urinary tract which will help prevent kidney stone formation.
6. Citrates! Citrates reduce the build up of uric acid and eliminate the build-up of calcium salts which cause the formation of kidney stones. To get an adequate amount of citrates, drink plenty of fruit and vegetable juices such as carrot, grape and orange juices.
7. Drink Soda! If you drink at least 10 glasses of water a day, then a daily soft drink could possibly prevent future kidney stones by dissolving the stones. A recent study proved this theory and a natural cure working in 2 hours will pass kidney stones in less than one day. Discover more at our website.
8. Sugar! High sugar intake is associated with increased risk of kidney stones. You can cut hundreds of calories and prevent future kidney stones by staying away from sugary drinks and foods.
9. Flush! No, not your toilet! But you need to flush your liver, kidney and gallbladder with a simple water-soluble fiber vegetable that has been labeled a miracle by my customers.
10. Believe! I know it sounds corny but you need to believe in yourself! We preach it to our kids but it is time you practice what you preach. If you are serous about treatment, start today!
What is your next move?
You might be thinking yourself, "These remedies seem too simple?" And they are but they are the beginning of an effective treatment because your miraculous body wants to heal itself. And these simple tips are the beginning of what your body needs.
I believe a wise sage said, "Prevention is always the best remedy." And he was right! If you know the pain associated with kidney stones, you will know that lifestyle changes need to take place immediately. And if you are serious about dissolving and flushing them.

7 Tips For Soft Lips - Secrets to Soothe and Heal Dry Or Chapped Lips Naturally - Nurse's Guide

If you're looking for a way to heal chapped lips or dry lips or just want to have softer beautiful lips, I have a few tips for you.
If your lips are red, scaly, chapped, cracked, sore, painful or dry or if you just want to have softer lips I have a few natural solutions, treatments, remedies, warnings and tips for you.
Lip problems can have many causes. In the wintertime or cold winter months you may find you have more lip problems than in the summer months and the wind, the sun, and the cold and dry air can take their toll on your lips. When your lips get dry you may lick them more. You can end up with dermatitis of the lips and all around your mouth. Another cause is breathing with your mouth open. Or just getting dehydrated can cause them to be dry and cracked.
Also your lipstick, lip gloss, moisturizers and even your lip balm can cause irritation. There are many different types of chemicals in lip balms, and some people actually get addicted to them.
Here are a few tips for your lips:
1. Remember that whatever you put on your lips you are eating. Whether it is lipstick, lip gloss, moisturizers, or lip balm you are eating it throughout the day. There have been many estimates of how many pounds a day of lipstick women eat but they also consume other cosmetics and lip balms.
2. You may no doubt have read in the past to use Vaseline. But Vaseline is petroleum-based and do you really want to eat petroleum? Petroleum is crude oil. It will give you shiny lips but may also cause zits or breakouts as well. Two of its relatives - mineral oil and petrolatum do not penetrate the skin on top of your lips and they will seal in any bacteria that are present. I would not put petroleum on my lips.
3. Make sure to drink plenty of pure, filtered water or spring water throughout the day. Eat lots of fruits because they are high in moisture content. Water will hydrate you from within and keep your lips wet on the outside.
4. Avoid using any lip balms with phenol, lanolin, parabens and anything with a fragrance. No botanicals either. People can be allergic to many ingredients- even those from plants. Phenol is often used in lip balm. It feels soothing when you first put it on but it can be irritating and cause the skin under the lips to peel.
5. Many people become addicted to lip balms, so it's best to avoid them. There are even lip balm addiction anonymous groups set up for chronic, addicted users.
6. The secret to soft lips is natural, cheap, healing and easy to do. All you need to do to have the best soft lips with no exposure to irritating chemicals is to make your own lip balm by using virgin coconut oil. You can easily find coconut oil in whole food stores. Get the kind of coconut oil that smells like coconut and has not been bleached, refined or processed. You can put some in little jars and carry them with you in your car or bring to your office. Coconut oil becomes liquid at 77 degrees so don't keep it in your purse. A little will go a long way and you won't have to constantly reapply it. It is edible so there is no harm if you swallow any or lick your lips.
7. If you have a serious lip condition that doesn't respond to coconut oil for any reason make sure you see your skin specialist or dermatologist.
These are a just a few of the lip tips and secrets that helped many overcome their lip problems, whether it is a simple case of chapped lips, dry, red or scaly lips or a more serious eczema of the lips, dermatitis or skin condition. You should be able to enjoy smoother, softer, beautiful, healthy lips. Make sure to apply it around your lips on your skin at night.

Banana nutrition facts - nine things you probably never knew about this nutritious tropical food

(NaturalNews) Whether as a quick snack, cut up and tossed in the blender for a fruit smoothie, or used to make quick bread or pancakes, most people enjoy bananas. Bananas are such a staple on produce shelves that most of us don't stop to think about their tropical origins or their many nutritional benefits. Next time you enjoy a banana, consider some of these facts:

1. Hands and Fingers
Bananas do not grow on trees. The banana plant is classified as an arborescent (tree-like) perennial herb and the banana itself is actually considered a berry. The correct name for bunch of bananas is a hand of bananas; a single banana is a finger.

2. Heart Health
One banana contains 467mg of potassium, providing powerful protection to the cardiovascular system. Regular consumption of the potassium-packed fruit helps guard against high blood pressure, atherosclerosis and stroke.

3. Bones
Although bananas do not contain high amounts of calcium, they do supply the body with an abundance of fructooligosaccharide, a prebiotic substance (one which encourages probiotics, the friendly bacteria in the digestive system). As fructooligosaccharides ferment in the digestive tract, they enhance the body's ability to absorb calcium.

4. Energy and Mood Balancing
Another benefit to bananas high potassium content derives from that mineral's role as an energy-supplying electrolyte. Since bananas also contain tryptophan, serotonin and norepinephrine, they help prevent depression while encouraging feelings of well-being and relaxation. In addition, the vitamin B6 in bananas helps protect against sleeplessness, mood swings and irritability.

5. Vision
Bananas, combined with the African herb orinol, have been used to treat cataracts in Nigeria. They also share with other fruits the ability to prevent macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in adults. According to a study published in the Archives of Opthmalogy in 2004, people who eat 3 servings of fruit per day are statistically unlike to develop the vision-diminishing disease.

6. Better Digestion
Bananas suppress acid in the digestive tract, alleviating heartburn and helping guard against ulcers. Since bananas contain pectin, a soluble fiber, they aid in the elimination process, helping prevent constipation.

7. Baby Food
Since they are easily digested, bananas are a perfect food for babies just beginning to move to solid foods.

8. HIV Protection
The Journal of Biological Chemistry in March 2010 published a study which revealed the healing potential of BanLec, a lectin protein in bananas. Researchers found that this protein which binds to sugars can also bind to HIV-infected cells, enveloping them and preventing their replication and transmission.

8. Clones
Due to modern shipping practices, this tropical yellow berry born of a herb seems so ubiquitous that most consumers take it for granted. However, the banana's constant availability could end soon. Nearly all the bananas sold in stores are cloned from just one variety, the Cavendish banana plant, originally native to Southeast Asia. This means disease could potentially wipe out the cloned plants in one fell swoop. Next time you peel and eat a banana, take the time to savor its flavor and texture, so if this fruit disappears, you can tell future generations about the healthy snack encased in yellow flesh.

That potential disappearance does not derive from science fiction speculation. Botanists say it is likely to happen in the next 20 years and in fact it already has happened. At the beginning of the last century, the dominant banana species was the Gros Michel, also a cloned species, which was wiped out by fungus. The Gros Michel was preferred over the Cavendish because it was larger and had a longer shelf life, and, according to old-timer recollections, better-tasting. The Cavendish replaced the Gros Michel after the latter species decimation because, of the over 1,000 varieties of bananas in the world, most do not have an appealing taste. There are the less sweet plantains, and also a variety called Goldfinger which has an apple-like taste.

9. Save the peels
Even the peels of this fruit are useful. Apply the inside of a banana peel to pimples to naturally dry out these skin blemishes. Also, banana peels make a wonderful fertilizer, particularly for roses.

Sugaring Hair Removal - How To Get The Best Results

Sugaring hair removal
is very popular because it is:
  • inexpensive
  • easily done at home
  • kinder to the skin
  • results last some weeks in many cases
Some prefer sugaring hair removal over waxing as it is kinder to the skin whereas waxing preparations often contain harsher chemicals. Sugar paste is easily cleaned up with water whereas wax can be more messy as it has a petroleum base.
If sugaring hair removal is your choice for getting rid of unwanted body hair, take note of these tips and suggestions for optimum results:
Sugaring Hair Removal - How To Get The Best Results

  • To remove the hair by the root it must be at least 1/4 inch or 6 mm long. Longer hair should be trimmed to this length.
  • Hair must be clean and dry before starting hair removal sugaring.
  • Remove all creams and oils, towel dry and then apply talcum powder to ensure the skin is completely dry.
  • Apply the sugaring paste in the direction of the hair growth.
  • When pressing the cotton strip on top of the paste, leave a small section at the end free so it will be easy to hold when pulling back.
  • If using a spatula to apply the paste use the edge not the flat side. This will help ensure a very thin layer is applied.
  • Pull the strip back sharply against the direction of the hair growth. Do not lift the strip up or out away from the skin.
  • Hold the skin firmly with one hand while you pull the strip back sharply with the other hand.
  • Treat small areas at a time when hair removal sugaring on sensitive parts of the body.
  • When heating the paste, either by microwave or oven, be absolutely sure the paste is just warm to the touch not hot. Otherwise burns to the skin may result.
  • If using hot water to warm the paste container, be sure not to allow water into the paste. Sugar paste is water soluble and will be spoiled if the container is not sealed properly and water gets in.

Sugaring hair removal is quite safe as the ingredients in the paste are natural. They can also contain ingredients with healing properties such as citric acid and gum Arabic. With a little practice sugaring hair removal can be a very effective and economical method for getting rid of unwanted hair on any part of the body.
Note: Hair inhibitors and sugaring hair removal compliment each other well. As sugaring paste pulls the hair out from the roots, hair inhibitors can have a maximum effect in disabling the hair follicle and slowing down and preventing future hair growth.

Healthy Bone For Preventing Osteoporosis

Software Engineer Karen Liew's mother suffered from osteoporosis three years ago and she is worried that, with her current sedentary lifestyle, she might be at risk of contracting the disease as well. Karen's mother, Mdm Yam was diagnosed with osteoporosis and scoliosis in 2006 and is currently taking medication and regular private Tai Chi lessons on a weekly basis. Prior to taking up Tai Chi lessons, Mdm Yam had been taking calcium tablets for 2 years as prescribed by the doctor. Instead of showing signs of improvements, her bone mass density has shown to decline over the years. Her doctor feedback that the body does not absorb the calcium as intended and thus recommended that she should engage with regular exercise in conjunction with the medication.
Yip See Kit, senior coach from NewAgeTaichi which is also the personal trainer for Mdm Yam comments “Tai Chi exercise is considered as a safe and alternate complementary therapy for prevention of osteoporosis because of its weight bearing nature. Together with the focus on balance and fall prevention in the Tai Chi training program, it has greatly improved her condition.”
Coach Yip also conducted regular record of Mdm Yam's body composition measurement using Tanita InnerScan Body Composition Monitor before and after each Tai Chi lessons to monitor her bone mass and muscle mass. It was observed that she has been able to maintain her bone mass and that her BMR – basal metabolic rate also shows an increase after each Tai Chi lesson, which is one of the psychological benefits of exercise.
Jane Tan, senior coach of NewAgeTaichi with a Dip in sports & exercise science, stressed that the body need both exercise and vitamin D (readily obtained from sunlight) to effectively absorb the calcium into the body, otherwise the excess calcium will just pass out from the body as waste.
Since osteoporosis usually strikes women after menopause, a common belief is that it's an older women's disease. However, a recent study conducted in Britain by the University of Surrey and the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro in 2008 showed that 20 per cent of women aged 20 to 29 had low bone mass, which could lead to early onset of osteoporosis.
It would be a good idea for women to start engaging in weight bearing exercises (rebounding, running, jumping, jogging, Tai Chi, resistance training) as bone mass loss begins at around age 30, which will potentially lead to the disease and causing painful fragility fractures. Dr Lau Tang Ching, president of the Osteoporosis Society (Singapore), said that a person's bone mass usually starts declining by about 1 per cent a year after that age, and that a sedentary lifestyle together with poor dietary habits, which is often the result of living in a busy, modern world like Singapore, can multiple the risk of osteoporosis. In such cases, bone mass deterioration can occur at a rate of 2 or 3 per cent a year, he added. That, combined with unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as smoking means young people are at higher risk of developing this disease in the near future.
Dr Bernard Thong, head and senior consultant of the Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology Department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital stressed that prevention is easier than cure when it comes to osteoporosis. And that specifically means reducing alcohol intake and smoking, increasing aerobic exercise and improving dietary calcium and vitamin D intake, said Dr Thong.
According to Ministry of Health clinical-practice guidelines released in January 2009, the incidence of hip fracture in Singapore has increased 1.5times in men and five times in women since 1960s. One in five dies within a year after sustaining a hip fracture. About 800 to 900 hip fractures occur every year in Singapore because of osteoporosis.
Fragility fractures of the hip and spine can lead to significant pain and immobility, and affect daily activities, especially among able-bodied working adults,” said Dr Thong.
We are currently conducting Tai Chi for Osteoporosis classes, which is a special program catered for osteoporosis patients to educate and guide how to exercise safely and effectively. We have been getting very well responses from the participants and the class does not only restrict to people with osteoporosis and is also suitable to people with all ages,” added Coach Jane.

Popular Home Remedies for Hot Flashes and Why They Work

More and more women are looking for natural hot flash relief or "home remedies" for hot flashes. For many years the treatment of choice was hormone replacement therapy (HRT), but the medical community has now identified the risks associated with long-term use of HRT. Since some women begin to suffer from hot flashes, bed sweats and other menopausal symptoms five or six years before their menstrual cycles end and then may continue to have them for several years afterwards, it is not unusual for a woman to need relief or treatment for ten years. The longer she uses HRT, the greater her risk of developing serious medical conditions including cancer, heart disease, blood clots and stroke.
There are several types of home remedies for hot flashes. There are the things that you avoid, because they may trigger hot flashes or worsen their severity. There are the things that you can do to relieve or possibly prevent the frequency of them. And then there are herbs, botanicals and even some foods that may provide hot flash relief. First, we'll look at the things that typically trigger hot flashes; those things to be avoided.
Caffeine, Nicotine, Alcohol & Other Triggers
Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants. Stimulants increase blood pressure and cause blood vessels to dilate. One of the body's natural reactions to stimulants is "flushing". While decreased estrogen production causes hot flashes or "flushes" during perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause, anything that would ordinarily cause flushing, can trigger hot flashes. Even though alcohol is a depressant, rather than a stimulant, it still dilates the blood vessels, increases blood pressure and can trigger hot flashes.
Other hot flash triggers may be unique to the individual woman and may require a symptoms diary to identify them. For example, many women find that spicy foods trigger hot flashes. Certain vitamins, over the counter drugs, prescription and illicit drugs (like marijuana) may trigger hot flashes, if they increase blood pressure or cause the blood vessels to dilate. When drugs or vitamins are necessary for other health reasons, it may not be possible to avoid them. Herbal home remedies for hot flashes may be helpful, in these cases, but prescription drugs can interact with some herbs. Your doctor, pharmacist or herbalist should be able to advise you about any herbal remedies that should be avoided, if you are taking medication.
Things That Help
Hot flash relief may be a simple matter of wearing loose fitting, lighter weight or cotton clothing. Cotton allows perspiration to evaporate, cooling the skin off more quickly and making you feel more comfortable. Dressing in layers can also help. You can take layers off as your body heats up and put them back on, if you become chilled afterwards, as many women do.
Regular exercise provides hot flash relief for many women. It may be that the heat you generate while moving around helps the body stay at a more comfortable temperature throughout the day. Diet can also be a factor, which brings up the last of the home remedies for hot flashes.
Dietary, Herbal and Botanical Home Remedies for Hot Flashes
A lot is being said about soy beans for menopausal symptoms. Soy beans contain a compound called isoflavones, which are plant estrogens or phytoestrogens. These phytoestrogens may have an estrogen-like effect on a woman's body, provide hot flash relief and possibly relieve other menopausal symptoms. While some experts suggest that adding soy to the diet may be a better choice than dietary supplements that contain the active compound, the research conducted thus far indicates that dietary supplements decrease hot flashes much more effectively than food products such as soy flour. For women who are allergic to soy, isoflavones can be found in other plants, such as red clover.
Black cohosh is one of the most popular home remedies for hot flashes. Researchers have found it to be even more effective than soy isoflavones. Sarsaparilla is an ancient remedy for hormonal imbalances and may provide hot flash relief. Ginseng is effective for some women, not for others. Chasteberry, although often recommended, does not appear to reduce hot flashes, but can be helpful for other menopausal symptoms. Wild yam is sometimes recommended because it contains a compound that can be used to create synthetic hormones. Dong Quai root is another one of the home remedies for hot flashes, but some scientific studies have found that it is ineffective for hot flash relief, though it may improve other symptoms.

Hyperacidity Cure - Effective and Permanent Natural Treatment

Acid dyspepsia or hyperacidity is presence of excess acid in the stomach, it needs to be cured effectively and permanently because if it stays for longer period can cause serious damage to the health. According to medical experts acid and alkali are present in the human body and are part of the body, however healthy body is an alkaline body, which means that alkali shall be present in the larger part than the acid. The most serious unhealthy conditions are acidic conditions. All the foods which a human being eats either leaves an acidic ash or alkaline ash which forms the nature of the body.
Acid is important for digesting the food effectively, sometimes due to different reasons gastric glands situated in the stomach secrete more than required acid which creates condition of hyperacidity in the body. There are many factors which work as triggers for gastric glands to secrete more than required acid in the stomach. Lifestyle related issues, eating habits, foods, sleeping pattern and environment, all play an important role in affecting the secretion of acid in the stomach. Certain types of food are known to promote excess acid secretion and some drinks like tea, coffee, habit of smoking and alcohol also promote excessive acid secretion.
To get an effective and permanent treatment of the problem one must consider all the possibilities which can initiate the problem to identify the root cause. There are many remedies which can provide immediate relief from the problem but without treating the root cause of the problem the treatment will not be permanent in nature. Some commonly associated problems which may initiate hyperacidity are constipation, flatulence, indigestion, malfunctioning of liver and stress. Hyperacidity in a person having any of these problems subsides with the treatment of the problem itself.
Consuming buttermilk after meals is an excellent remedy for hyperacidity and if taken regularly can provide effective and permanent treatment. Eating jaggery or a piece of clove after meal also helps in treating the problem. Lemon may be acidic in nature but contains digestive enzymes and good acid, consuming sweet lemon juice before meals helps in digesting the food and nullifying the acid in the stomach.
Increased intake of fruits like banana, melon, pineapple, apple and guava are very useful in treating the problem of hyperacidity. Consumption of water shall be paid importance not only to avoid the excess secretion of acid but also for good overall health, an adult shall consume 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Avoiding spicy food and fried food is a good practice to prevent hyperacidity.
Ginger is an excellent remedy for all sorts of stomach related issues; it has medicinal properties as well as acts as a good digestive aid. Preparing traditional tea mixed with ginger can also work as a good remedy for hyperacidity. Consuming ginger juice with honey after meals is a sure remedy for curing excess acid secretion and good digestion. Apart from remedies healthy habits are equally important for treating the problem effectively and permanently. Do not lie down immediately after the meals, take a mild walk after meals, most of the time people eat contradictory foods like milk after meat or lemon in the diet and milk later, such habits surely promote excessive acid during digestion to cause hyperacidity.

Hydrogen Peroxide Teeth Whitening at Home

Want whiter teeth? You are not alone. A recent survey showed that 80% of adult Americans want whiter teeth. There are many products on the market today that will make your teeth whiter. But I only know of one natural way to do it. You must use food grade hydrogen peroxide.
In this article you will learn how to use food grade hydrogen peroxide as an all natural alternative to whiten your teeth at home. But first let's look at what else is available.
Some of the products available for purchase to whiten your teeth contain chemicals that I would never put in my mouth. For instance, one that I checked out (and possibly other products) contains sodium hydroxide.
Their website describes it as "a pure white solution that not only adds white color to your teeth, it speeds up the whitening process, allowing all other ingredients to be delivered more quickly".
Wikipedia's definition of sodium hydroxide is "Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as lye and caustic soda, is a caustic metallic base. It is used in many industries, mostly as a strong chemical base in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents and as a drain cleaner".
Used as a DRAIN CLEANER!? I don't know about you but that's not going in my mouth! Anything you put in your mouth, even if you don't swallow it will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
Some of their websites do not even tell you what is in their products. Are they trying to hide something?
Also, some of these products offer you a free trial but then charge your credit card after the trial is up. Often, you haven't even had the product long enough to see if it will work. Here is what one website said "Try before you buy, pay only s/h today. You will be charged $119.93 in 14 days for our Free Refill Program* unless cancelled." If it's a free refill program why are you going to be charged $119.93?
Pure Peroxide Teeth Whitening
Wikipedia's definition - Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a very pale blue liquid, slightly more viscous than water, that appears colorless in dilute solution. It has strong oxidizing properties, and is a powerful bleaching agent. It is used as a disinfectant, antiseptic, oxidizer... The oxidizing capacity of hydrogen peroxide is so strong that it is considered a highly reactive oxygen species.
H2O2 is naturally produced in organisms as a by-product of oxidative metabolism. Nearly all living things (specifically, all obligate and facultative aerobes) possess enzymes known as peroxidases, which harmlessly and catalytically decompose low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen.
Personally, I always prefer a natural alternative to a chemical one. I started using 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide after reading The One Minute Cure by Madison Cavanaugh.
This E-book gives a great deal of information on the history of use of hydrogen peroxide in medicine and how it's effectiveness has been covered up, distorted or lied about by drug companies in order to protect their profits. In my opinion everyone should read this book. It gives very specific instructions on how to use hydrogen peroxide.
How to Use Hydrogen Peroxide to Whiten Your Teeth
You do not want to use the peroxide that you can buy at a drugstore if it is going to be absorbed into your body. The drugstore variety is for external use only, they contain stabilizers and often contain heavy metals. 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide is the only grade of H2O2 recommended for internal use. It is often used in production of dairy products. But you MUST NOT use it at this strength! It MUST be diluted! See instructions below on how to dilute it.
Hydrogen peroxide can be used at 3% strength as a mouthwash or mixed with baking soda for use as toothpaste.
Here is how I use it as a tooth whitener. First you must dilute the 35% to 3%, (instructions are below).
Then all you have to do is hold the H2O2 in your mouth for about 10 minutes per day. I keep a bottle of the 3% solution in the shower and put some in my mouth while I take a shower.
Please brush before using the H2O2 to remove any debris and plaque so the hydrogen peroxide can work directly on the stains on your teeth.
Diluting 35% Hydrogen Peroxide
Use caution when handling 35% hydrogen peroxide. Do not get it on your skin. At this strength it will burn your skin. Also follow the manufacturer's instruction on storage. It should be kept in a cold place like your refrigerator.
The 35% can be purchased on the internet, in fact you can order on my website. When I started looking for it I was not able to find a local store that sold it. Maybe if you live in a REALLY large city you might be able to buy it locally.
Step One Pour some of the 35% H2O2 a measuring cup. Fill to 1oz.
Step Two Add this to 11 ounces of distilled water. This will yield 12 ounces of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Please label the bottle. You do not want someone to think it is water and drink it.
I usually just double this by adding 2ounces of 35% H2O2 to 22 ounces of distilled water. I double it because I use it for many other things besides tooth whitening.
Using it at this dilution a bottle of the 35% lasts a long time.
There you have it!
Some manufacturers of H2O2 will sell you a 35% solution that is not food grade that contains heavy metals and stabilizers. Be careful what you buy! If you choose to use the food grade hydrogen peroxide please consider buying it on my website. You will receive the purest H2O2 that is available! No chemicals or heavy metals!

The Benefits of Using Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy came from two words. The word aroma means fragrance or smell and therapy means treatment. It is thought that aromatherapy benefits include treatment and prevention of some diseases by using essential oils. Essential oils came from plants, flowers, leaves, bark or roots. These oils are typically mixed with other oils to create different recipes which suits different effects, and can be in the form of lotions, soaps, bath salts, soaks, perfumes and even candles.
There are three modes of aromatherapy application. First is aerial diffusion, which means environmental fragrance or simply using essential oils to fragrant the room. Second is direct inhalation, for respiratory disinfection and decongestion. Lastly is the topical application or using it as general massage, bath, or therapeutic skin care.
It is said that aromatherapy works by stimulating the smell receptors in the nose, which then sends impulses to the brain's limbic system, which is responsible in controlling emotions and memory. However, others say that Aromatherapy does not cure conditions, but helps the body to find a natural way to cure itself and improve immune response.
Some studies have shown that aromatherapy can relieve stress, depression, and anxiety. It also improves quality of life and promotes good sleep. Pregnant women use aromatherapy to normalize childbirth and to increase their satisfaction in their labor experiences.
Aromatherapy strengthens our body, increases blood circulation and even boosts the immune system. The essential oils can stimulate and calm our system. It is also widely used in baby baths. It purifies the atmosphere and helps teething problems, itchy skin, and sleep problems.
Rosemary and Lavender Aromatherapy are both associated with feelings of contentment. They promote good mood and also release calming and soothing effects. Peppermint aromatherapy can increase memory and alertness, which is perfect for stressed students and workaholics. Lavender oil is also great for headaches. You can apply some on your temples or to a warm bowl of water, then drape a towel over your head and inhale it for a few minutes.
Sinuses and colds can be cured by aromatic chemicals like eucalyptus and menthol. Using aromatic oils in massages are also helpful in physical pains such as body aches, sprains, muscle pains, and migraines. The oils are quickly absorbed by the skin, bringing recovery.
Aromatherapy is very beneficial in skin health. Essential oils are said to be anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti inflammatory. It also has healing properties. Jasmine, Lavender and Rose oils are helpful in fighting aging and moisturizes the skin. Olive oils and Tea Tree Oils are also good face-cleansers.
However, we should be careful in choosing essential oils to use in aromatherapy. Some essential oils are highly concentrated and can cause skin irritations. Some can't be used by pregnant and lactating women, while others can be toxic to domestic animals. It is still best to consult your doctor before doing an aromatherapy.

Getting Rid Of Gallstones Naturally

The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ that sits on the right side of our bodies just beneath the liver. Its primary function is to store and secrete bile. Bile is a yellow-brown fluid produced by the liver, which helps us digest fats. Our liver produces up to three cups of bile a day. Our gallbladder can store up to a cup of bile as it awaits a fatty meal.
When we eat, our gallbladder contracts and pushes bile into the small intestines where it helps with the digestion of fats. Bile is made up of water, cholesterol, fats, bile salts, proteins and bilirubin. Under certain conditions, substances in the bile, especially the cholesterol or bile pigment (bilirubin) can harden into stones - gallstones.
Gallstones can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball. We can develop one large stone or a multitude of smaller ones. Many people with gallstones have no symptoms at all. Others go through life relatively symptom free, experiencing minor symptoms such as abdominal bloating, intolerance to fatty foods, belching, intestinal gas and indigestion. For others, however they may suffer what is called a gallstone "attack". Gallstone attacks often follow a fatty meal. Symptoms of an attack include steady, sever pain in the upper abdomen that can last from 30 minutes to several hours. Sufferers may also experience pain in the back between the shoulder blades or under the right shoulder. A gallstone attack is often accompanied by nausea or vomiting. If symptoms such as sweating, chills, a fever or a yellowish color to the skin or whites of the eyes occur, it is important to seek medical assistance.
There are a number of factors that increase your risk of having gallstones. Those at a higher risk include women, especially women who are pregnant, on hormone therapy or taking birth control pills, people over 60 years of age, Native and Mexican Americans, overweight individuals and individuals who fast or go on crash diets and lose a lot of weight quickly.
It is important to recognize that if the gallbladder is loaded with stones, there is very little room to store bile and fat digestion may become impaired. In turn, the unused bile can back up into the liver causing liver congestion. If this is the case, it is important to evaluate your liver's health prior to cleansing on your gallbladder.
Recommendations For Wellness
The traditional treatment for gallstones is to have your gallbladder removed. There are, however, a number of things you can do to reduce your risk of producing gallstones or experiencing a gallstone attack.
  • Reduce your consumption of saturated fats typically found in red meat and pork, while increasing the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables you consume.
  • Start a diet and exercise program, but avoid crash dieting which can increase your risk of gallstones. Both diet and exercise can help you reduce your risk of producing gallstones.
  • If you are taking birth control pills or are on hormone replacement therapy, speak with your doctor regarding your risk of forming stones or have them check your gallbladder for the presence of gallstones regularly.
  • Studies indicate that coffee increase the flow of bile and may help to decrease the risk of gallstones. If you decide to add a little coffee to your health plan for this reason, make sure you only consume organically grown coffee beans.
  • Supplement with vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed by the body to convert cholesterol to bile acids in the body.
  • Lecithin has been shown to help break down and transport fat molecules and may help dissolve gallstones. Studies indicate that it is helpful in protecting us from gallstone formation.
  • Safflowers can be used to thin body fluids as well as aid in the digestion of oils.
  • Nature's Sunshine Gall Bladder Formula can be used to help stimulate circulation, improve liver function & aid in the production of digestive fluids.
  • Do a gallbladder flush. During a gallbladder flush, 1-2 cups of olive oil are consumed to simulate the gallbladder into releasing bile. This increased demand on the gallbladder to release bile works to push the stones out.
  • If you think your liver is congested, or if you have been having minor symptoms of gallstones for a long period of time, it is important to support and cleanse your liver for a period of time before doing a gallbladder flush. Try taking herbs such as milk thistle, dandelion or a liver cleanse formula.

Why The FDA Suppresses Natural Remedies and Cures

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is designed to regulate the medications and food products in America. By testing and regulating these consumable goods, the FDA controls which products enter the marketplace and which pharmaceuticals doctors can prescribe for patients. Originally designed to help protect the health of the consumer base, the FDA has become a larger entity in a federal government heavily influenced by large, wealthy corporations who constantly lobby government officials to protect their interests. Since the FDA regulates pharmaceuticals, one of the most profitable products in America, drug companies have spent millions of dollars to push their products into the marketplace. Since the FDA can only regulate drugs and cures that originate from controlled areas (and not nature), they have passed into law a statement that only drugs and surgery can prevent and cure disease. As stated in the book Natural Cures by Kevin Trudeau, by attempting to control the consumption of pharmaceuticals, the FDA has managed to suppress any and all natural remedies and cures.
Although the FDA has a stated focus of protecting the citizens, it manages to disregard any alternative natural remedies and cures due to the management and regulation of natural remedies. Cures and remedies found in nature can neither be regulated nor patented and the FDA can therefore control neither the production value nor the consumption of the products. Because of this, the FDA cannot clear natural cures for use by the population to cure or treat diseases or conditions. Only pharmaceutical companies have the capacity to regulate the production of drugs and create a consistent product. By creating a homogenized product, the FDA can then regulate its use in the marketplace and approve these drugs for use by the general population. In this regard, the FDA manages to regulate the drug distribution, but also fails to recognize the potential of natural remedies and cures. As explained in Kevin Trudeau's book Natural Cures, the neglect of natural remedies and cures manages to protect only the pharmaceutical industries instead of providing consumers with the best possible cure for their condition.
As one of the largest and most wealthy industries in America, drug companies create conditions in the FDA that protect only the pharmaceutical industries instead of the public. Big drug companies spend millions of dollars creating products to channel into the hands of consumers through the doors of the FDA. Whether these products are prescription grade or not, these companies are interested in profits, not necessarily the health of the consumer. Pharmaceutical companies, after all, are for-profit businesses that profit primarily from the sale of their patented drugs. By influencing the FDA and government officials through lobbyists and drug research, these companies have managed to create an environment that allows only patented drugs to enter the fields of medical science and hospitals for use on patients. As a result, the FDA ends up protecting the profits of the drug companies instead of the health of the consumer. Kevin Trudeau explains in his book Natural Cures that the FDA is only interested in the regulation of pharmaceuticals, leaving the consumer to defend his or her health. He further explains that, since the FDA does not regulate consumer health, each individual is free to choose a cure and remedy that suits the individual's need.

10 Natural Remedies For Stopping Chronic Hives

Chronic Hives, also referred to as urticaria, is an allergic reaction apparent on the skin as a rash. The rash may develop as lots of tiny little bumps which may look something like nettle rash, or they may appear as odd coloured and shaped swellings. These swellings are called Urticarial wheels.
Large patches are often a symptom of chronic urticaria, these patches or wheels often grow and expand to join each other, sometimes covering the whole body.
Hives or urticaria normally appear after contact with a triggering allergen which could range from cosmetics, airborne toxins, chemicals, drugs even food.
Trying to find one's specific trigger is difficult at best & can be almost impossible, this is why most cases of chronic hives are referred to as idiopathic which basically means there is no known cause for the urticaria outbreaks.
Although hives can occur on most parts of the body they rarely affect the palms of the hand or the soles of the feet.
Hives (urticaria) is a condition classified as either acute or chronic depending on how often the outbreaks occur, cases which clear up within a period of six weeks or less are labelled as acute longer or repeated outbreaks are referred to as chronic.
Unfortunately for many sufferers chronic hives can be a life changing affliction, although more often than not considered by many as nothing more than an allergy.
The traditional treatment of acute and chronic hives is limited and depends on the period and extent of the outbreaks. The most commonly used treatments for chronic hives are Non-sedating prescribed or over the counter antihistamines, orally taken steroids, steroid creams and less frequently (depending on where you live cortisone injections).
No Long Term Answer
While these methods may provide a quick fix for many sufferers with the acute variation of hives (urticaria) they are not a long term answer and offer little or no relief for the chronic sufferer.
It should also be noted that with long term use many of these drugs may actually be contributing to the overall condition due to toxins being left in the body causing a toxic build up.
10 Tips for Treating and Avoiding Chronic Hives
1. When nothing else works, fast yourself on mineral water (or filtered water).
2. Stop drinking tea and coffee (caffeine products)
3. Use Vitamin D3, Sunlight is great but we're not all blessed with good whether, normal Vitamin D is not sufficient you will need to use D3 preferably in powder form as opposed to capsule or tablet, the recommended amount set in the USA is around 400 IU (international units per day), the UK offers no IU guidance at the time of writing. I take 1000 IU per day which helps.
4. Avoid anything containing 'Trans fatty acids' or 'Hydrogenated fat'
5. Cats Claw (root)
Cats claw has been used for over 2000 years in the treatment of intestinal and immune problems.
6. Naturally detoxify your body by drinking unsweetened Green tea (this really helps over time)
7. Chewing a clove once a day can kill intestinal parasites and act as an anti-microbial agent against fungi and bacteria which in many cases may contribute towards chronic hives (chronic urticaria).
8. To relieve pain and swelling, apply a cold towel or cool pack to the affected area.
9. Natural Ginger has been used for as long back as anyone can remember for treating upset stomachs, however it is also especially good for immune disorders.
10. Stop Smoking, if you are a smoker and you suffer with chronic hives (urticaria) your smoking will hinder any of your efforts, annoying I know but unfortunately that's the way it is.

How To Get Rid of Pink Eye Symptoms

While natural remedies for pink eye may relieve irritating symptoms, any home treatments should not be used as substitutes for a physician's care. Extended use of non-clinical treatments for pink eye will result in worsening symptoms, better chances of infecting others and the possibility that what you think is pink eye may be something more serious, such as an ulcer, rheumatic diseases and systemic lupus erythematosus. Allowing one of these conditions to continue without professional treatment may result in permanent vision loss.
Medically referred to as conjunctivitis, this is the infection of the membrane that protects the whites of the eyes and the inner eyelids. Reasons for developing pinkeye include the introduction of allergy-causing irritants into the eye, bacteria and viruses. Bacterial conjunctivitis and viral conjunctivitis are the most common forms of pink eye, with children being more vulnerable to the infection than adults. Bacterial pinkeye is usually the result of a streptococci or staphylococci bacteria entering the eye and infecting membranes. Symptoms include itching, green or yellowish discharge, extreme redness of the sclera (white part of the eyeball), sharp pain and swelling. In addition, lymph nodes near the ears may be swelled as well.
Adenoviruses are responsible for viral pinkeye and basically produce the same symptoms as bacterial pink eye except the discharge is watery and clear rather than yellowish or greenish. Additionally, viral pink eye affects more people in early spring and/or late fall than any other time of the year. It is often accompanied by sinus congestion and sensitivity to bright lights.
Several home remedies, such as "artificial tears" eyedrops or applying a warm compress on the affected eyes may relieve the pain and itching of pinkeye. If you wear contact lens and develop pink eye symptoms, you might consider not wearing the lenses until your doctor determines the cause of the conjunctivitis. Since bacterial conjunctivitis is much more contagious than the viral kind, the use of contact lenses may only contribute to re-infecting the eye.
Boric acid eyewash is an old remedy that will clean the eye and relieve symptoms. Mix one cup of boiled water with 1/8 teaspoon of boric acid, allow the mixture to cool, and then place one or two eye drops in the affected eye. Pinkeye sufferers can also try placing damp, warm tea bags on infected eyes, which may ease the swelling and pain. Try soaking cotton balls in boiled saltwater, letting them cool, and then placing them on eyelids to help fight bacterial conjunctivitis.
Certain herbs can also be used as natural remedies for pink eye, such as jasmine flowers, calendula and damp chamomile tea bags. Fill a glass jar with distilled water and about 10 to 15 jasmine flowers. Let the flowers soak for eight hours before placing one or two drops of the mixture into the affected eye. Calendula has antiseptic properties and seems to be effective in soothing inflammation. Use calendula as an eyewash or as a compress once or twice a day to relieve symptoms of pink eye.

Leukemia Cures and Natural Treatments

Are you looking for a fresh approach to leukemia cures? If so then you may want to know that there are natural leukemia cures available. Many people who have cancer find themselves looking for these cures simply because the traditional medical treatments for these illnesses take so much out of the patient physically. This being said it is certainly not uncommon to find that many are looking for cures that don't make them as sick and don't leave them feeling completely and utterly drained.
Alternative natural treatment methods include detoxification and oxygenation that you could use to cure yourself of cancer. As for their loved ones, they may even be the ones that see it first and begin the search for a natural method because seeing their family member go through so much might simply be too much for them to handle, and they are not even the ones enduring them.
Why are natural treatments better?
Natural treatments have been proven to actually cure cancer just like the medical treatments have. The best part of these is as mentioned above the side effects are nothing in comparison to the side effects of the chemical treatments. Most of the natural remedies actually have no side effects at all. These might be what draw so many people to those natural treatments.
After all who would want to go through the nausea, vomit, fatigue, and hair loss, not to mention other side effects these chemical treatments can cause? Should you decide that you are in preference to the chemical treatments you should know that there are also some natural treatments that you might be able to use at the same time to help optimize your chances of remission.
This is not to say that all natural remedies work for all people because they simply don't. What it is saying is that there is a great chance of remission using natural methods as well though just like chemotherapy does not work for everyone you may find that a few of the natural remedies don't work for you either. You may also find that you get the best results by using several different natural remedies at one time. This is the best way to optimize your results with natural treatment.
What are some natural treatment methods?
There are lots of natural treatment methods that you can use. As mentioned above you may even choose to use more than one treatment method at a time. This could be two or more natural methods or a chemical method with a natural method. If you are undergoing any kind of treatment or taking any medications you will need to be sure to discuss these methods with your doctor before you start taking them. Even if you aren't going through treatment or medication it is still a good idea for this to be brought up.
You should never use a natural method without reporting it to your treating physician having a doctor over see you is still very important to your health and in getting the treatments that you need. Many times your physician will not see problems in the natural methods of your choice if there should be a conflict however because of your current treatment or medication then your doctor should be able to tell you which natural methods you can use to get you going with the natural treatment that you desire.

Common Causes of Deafness and How You May Be Able to Prevent It

Can you have any control on whether you will lose your sense of hearing? There are many causes of deafness and certainly some are preventable.
Deafness can vary from mild to severe. Deafness at birth is called congenital deafness and that which occurs after birth is called adventitious deafness. The causes of adventitious deafness are many. Lifestyle has a vital responsibility for cause of hearing loss and one of the main causes of adventitious deafness is noise. Some common causes of deafness are:
o Hereditary Disorders: Hereditary deafness happens when the parents pass the defect on to their children. It means that people are born deaf and this is generally caused by the malformations of the inner ear.
o Genetic Disorders: Genetic deafness occurs when the baby is in the mother's womb.
o Prenatal Exposure to Disease: When pregnant mothers suffer from rubella, influenza or mumps, the baby born will either be deaf or will have some hearing problem.
o Noise: Loud noise like gunshots, firecrackers, explosions and rock concerts tends to damage the ear mechanisms. A single exposure to loud noise does not damage the eardrum. Repeated exposure to sound over a long period of time will affect the ear with moderate to severe hearing loss.
o Disease: There are certain diseases that cause loss of hearing such as meningitis, mumps, chicken pox and cytomegalovirus. In the case of meningitis, the inner ear tends to become inflamed which leads to deafness.
o Trauma: A hole in the eardrum, a fractured skull or changes in air pressure lead to deafness.
o Wax: The ear canal produces a waxy substance, which is useful in lubricating and protecting the tissues. This has to be cleaned out once in a while. If not done, the wax will build leading to short term deafness. Even foreign substances such as the tip of a cotton bud or a hairpin can cause hearing loss if they puncture the eardrum. This is not too serious as the eardrum heals on its own, although it can take a few weeks.
o Excess Mucus: Excess mucus is caused either due to the common cold, hay fever or other allergies. This blocks the Eustachian tube, which leads to loss of hearing.
o Ear Infections: During an ear infection, the fluid and pus fills in the middle ear. This does not allow full transmission of sound and leads to partial hearing.
o Drugs: There are certain drugs like chloroquine, which lead to temporary deafness.
o Age-related Hearing Loss: This type of hearing loss is commonly found in old people. This is normal and rarely leads to deafness. Age-related hearing loss also known as 'presbycusis' begins with loss of certain speech sounds like 'S', 'F' and 'T'.
o Tinnitus: Tinnitus is the ringing sound in the ears. Middle ear infection and damage caused by loud noises can cause tinnitus. This disease can cause psychiatric symptoms.
o Occupational Hearing Loss: Men working in bars, pubs, and nightclubs are liable to have their sense of hearing impaired. Such people are exposed to loud noise most of the time. The deafness is caused by the damage to the hair cells of the organ of Corti in the cochlea.
In addition to the above causes of deafness, there are many unknown causes. Loss of hearing is a serious problem. Some say it is worse than losing one's sight. People lose their quality of life due to the isolating nature of the condition.

3 Types of Skin Cancer Explained

Skin cancer is a condition that develops as a result of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. This prolonged exposure then causes the skin cells to grow in a rapid, out of control way ultimately leading to the formation of a cancerous tumour on the skin. Approximately 60,000 people in the UK develop this condition each year. However, what many people do not know is that not all skin cancers are the same. There are actually three different types; Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Malignant Melanoma. In this article article I will be discussing these three in greater detail.
1) BASAL CELL CARCINOMA (BCC):- This is the most common form of skin cancer and accounts for 75% of all diagnoses. As the name suggests it begins when the process of cell division goes wrong in the basal cells of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) and a cancerous tumour forms. This tumour often looks like a red ulcer on the skin which may bleed, crust or itch and is often given the nickname 'rodent ulcer'. Basal cell carcinoma typically appears on areas of the body that are exposed to the sun such as the arms, legs and face. Although it is the most common type of skin carcinoma it rarely kills. However, it can disfigure the skin if left untreated for a long period.
2) SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA:- This type of skin cancer accounts for between 15% and 20% of skin cancers. It begins when the squamous cells of the epidermis start to grow in a rapid and uncontrollable way which ultimately leads to the development of a cancerous tumour. This tumour often resembles a hard red lump or a flat, scaly, scab like area. Like BCC, squamous cell carcinoma often appears on parts of the body that are exposed to the sun and rarely kills. However, if left untreated it can spread to other areas of the body.
3) MALIGNANT MELANOMA:- This type of skin cancer represents less than 10% of diagnoses. It develops in melanin producing skin cells called melanocytes. Malignant melanoma begins when the process of cell division goes wrong in these melanocytes and they start to divide and multiply uncontrollably leading to the development of a tumour. This tumour has a large, brown mole like appearance and can appear on your arms, back, leg or face. Although it resembles a mole there are subtle differences, Malignant melanomas are often a different colour to normal moles and they are often larger and more uneven. Unlike BCC and SCC, this type of cancer is very dangerous if not treated quickly and accounts for the majority of skin cancer fatalities.
I hope this article has given you an insight in to this type of cancer. Whilst skin blemishes and odd looking moles may be non-cancerous they are a cause for concern. If you notice anything suspicious on your skin which does not disappear within a month then you should go see your doctor immediately. Early detection is a key element in the successful treatment of skin cancer and so it is far better to take the time and get yourself tested.
Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Skin cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Eyes

Dark circles are not a medical concern, but they can be very annoying and embarrassing. Almost everyone gets dark circles under eyes at some time or the other, and they are usually temporary. They are the second highest dermatological problem.
Dark circles are socially very embarrassing - they make a person look older, tired, stressed and even depressed.
Causes of dark circles -
A common misconception is that fatigue is usually the most common cause of dark circles.
1. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. When our nose is congested, veins that usually drain from the eyes into the nose become dilated and darker.
2. Eyelid swelling during sleep is another cause of under eye circles. While lying down, gravity causes fluid to collect in the lower eyelids, creating the appearance of shadows below eyes.
3. Can result from chronic skin conditions, such as atopic eczema.
4. Dark circles can also be an inherited tendency - one of the primary causes
5. Dark circles can result due to the natural aging process.
6. Lack of sleep is another factor that is not really a cause, but makes them more apparent.
7. Other causes include factors, which damage the skin, such as too much ultraviolet A (UVA) light or smoking.
8. Pregnancy and menstruation make our skin pale. Many people associate dark circles with hormones -
but dark circles are a non-hormonal problem.
9. Allergies cause dark circles as histamine reactions cause dark smudges to appear under the eyes
10. Lack of vitamins can cause dark circles under the eyes.
Treatment and prevention -
Treatment for severe under eye circles is directed at the underlying cause, if known, and may include bleaching agents and laser therapy.
However, the best way to prevent dark circles under the eyes is to eat right, drink plenty of water and sleep well. Reduce stress and combat tiredness.

Makeup Tips For Brown Eyes

There are no "set-in-stone" makeup tips for brown eyes but there are some very useful general guidelines. A simple set of suggestions is often all you need to feel comfortable enough to experiment and really begin playing up your brown eyes.
Keep in mind that variety is the spice of life, and if you really like a color there is no reason why you shouldn't try it. You may be surprised how good it looks on you. Experimenting is one of the most enjoyable parts of using makeup. These tips are merely guidelines to help you when you're standing in front of 300 colors and have no idea where to start. Just because a certain color isn't mentioned does not automatically exclude it from the list.
Choosing An Eyeshadow
The most popular question is "what eyeshadow can I wear with my eye color?"
General makeup tips for brown eyes always include browns, beige, and neutral tans. Grays and charcoals look good with this eye color, as do violet and lavender. If there is any green at all in your brown eyes the purple spectrum colors will bring it out.
Khaki and olive green are a great color combination. Browns with green highlights or copper highlights are always a fun option. Try copper and even gold. If your eyes have a tinge of green choose green eyeshadows as well.
Maybe you've heard you should never wear an eyeshadow the same color as your eyes. That isn't true at all. You'll quickly find that brown shadow looks very complimentary on brown eyes. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the "right" shade, though. While most brown eyeshadows are pretty safe, avoid those with reddish undertones. That slight bit of red can leave your eyes looking puffy and swollen.
Black is out; don't use it as an eyeshadow.
The main idea is try, try, and try again. Keep at it until you find a color you like. You'll know when it's right- trust your instincts.
Colors To Avoid
There are very few "blacklisted" eyeshadow colors. However, in some cases it's good to have general colors to avoid.
Pinks and mauve, for the same reason as red-based browns, can cause eyes to look swollen or puffy. It isn't true for all women or for all pinks, either. However, if you'd rather play it safe and not risk it, avoid pinks and mauve.
It may be because women with brown eyes tend to have more yellow skin tones, making them warm complexioned, and pinks and mauve are definitely cool colors. The clash is unmistakeable when it is there. The blue undertone in pinks can react with the yellow skin tone and produce a washed out, or garish, effect.
Now, this is not a tip specifically for brown eyes, but you may want to avoid blue eyeshadow also. There's the misconception that blue eyeshadow is "out", but the case more tends to be how it is worn. Play it safe and skip this color.
Silver is not a good color for brown eyes. They tend to cause a "washed out" look. Like blue eyeshadow, leave silver for blue eyes.
Eyeliner Colors
While not everyone that wears eyeshadow wears eyeliner, it's always good to have a few tips in your back pocket. The list is simple and straight forward.
Brown eyes always look good with dark brown and black eyeliner. Apply with a light hand, though. A thick, black line can give the appearance of raccoon eyes; that's a big no-no. Not only is it passe, but it is unflattering to the eye as well.
Maybe you have small eyes and are worried eyeliner will only make them look smaller. Never fear! You too can wear liner. Line the first third of your eyelid (from the inside corner) with white or ivory and the rest with dark brown.
Navy, forest green, violet, and copper are also great eyeliner choices. Play around with the different colors and pick the ones you like best.
Eye makeup should be fun. It can be a great way to express yourself. It can boost your self esteem when you've highlighted your eyes the right way. Practice and try something new and you'll be surprised how much fun it can be to play up brown eyes.
